One decision can change everything: Alexander Bublik reveals he considered retiring in 2025

Without a doubt, the 2025 tennis season has his name as one of the impactful figures: Alexander Bublik had such an impressive year that he currently occupies the number 11 position in the ATP Ranking; and none of this was by chance: titles in Halle, Geneva, Gstaad and Hangzhou (in addition to the Turin Challenger) explain it.

Anyone who witnessed his immense talent in serving, variation, and high competitive spirit would never imagine that he considered ending his professional tennis career that year. In an interview with "Tennis Magazin," the 28-year-old athlete was very clear: "I was very dissatisfied with myself at the end of the year and the beginning of the season. I even considered ending my career because I was worried about falling out of the Top 100; that would change everything. After Indian Wells, I went to Las Vegas for three days to relax and reflect. Since then, I've been on a mission."

The Kazakh player also gave technical details about his game: "I tried to keep my game varied, but with much more consistency. I adjusted my training a bit, which improved my forehand, especially on clay. I gained confidence in challenger tournaments and managed to get through the qualifying rounds. I also improved my physical conditioning. The racket change also helped me a lot; to make it lighter, we sanded the blade until it weighed 291 grams."

Despite the "comeback" and the titles won, Bublik's talent can also be seen in other peak moments of his season: such as the spectacular comeback against Jack Draper at Roland Garros, where he was literally gliding on the clay; or when he surprised everyone with his dominance over Jannik Sinner in Halle.

After a year of incredible achievement, all we can ask for is a long career for Alexander Bublik.
